solitary and strong
My heart beats, and I am shaking,
Every dawn I have is a dawn that’s breaking
Trying to get me from my bed and get me to the day The sun beats down and burns
my skin,
I can’t stand the shape I’m in
But it’s like I’ve always been this way
And I try to be the best that I can be
And I try to be everything that is in me
But they all turn away and sigh
And I never did have the strength to ask why
Open the door walk out with pride
Choose the path on the sunnier side
And my feet they carry me forever on and on
I can travel anywhere
Without a plane or a car or a care
And it’s like I’ve never been away
And I try to be the best that I can be
And I try to be everything that is in me
But they all turn away and sigh
And I never did have the strength to ask why
I know I’m like this now
Solitary and strong some how
But I am me and I am free
Because I know the world I see
And the day will come when I awake
Hold out hands that no longer shake
Just feel like I’m coming alive again
I’ll see the brightening sun as my friend.
I won’t have to struggle from my bed
And my feet will carry me forever on and on
And I’ll try to be the best that I can be
And I’ll try to be everything that is in me
If they still turn away and sigh
I won’t take it upon myself to ask why
